Full Mouth Reconstruction in Sarasota, FL
Some mouths can’t be fixed one tooth at a time. When teeth are worn down from years of grinding, when old crowns are failing in sequence, when acid reflux has eaten through enamel, or when a bite has collapsed and the face has shortened along with it — patching individual teeth just moves the problem around.
Full mouth reconstruction rebuilds the whole system at once: every tooth restored, the bite re-established at the right height, and the result engineered to hold.
You might need this if
- Your teeth are visibly shorter than they used to be
- You’ve broken multiple teeth or crowns in the past few years
- Your jaw aches, your temples hurt, or your teeth are sensitive to everything
- You have several missing teeth and the rest have drifted
- Old dentistry is failing faster than you can replace it
- Erosion from reflux or diet has thinned your enamel

This is specialist work
Rebuilding a bite means deciding where the jaw should close, which affects the muscles, the joints, your speech, and how your face is proportioned. It requires diagnostic records, mounted models, a wax-up of the intended result, and often a trial period in temporaries before anything permanent is made.
This is the definition of prosthodontics. Dr. Kulangara’s three-year residency was devoted to exactly these cases, and she went on to teach the subject at NYU. Very few general practices in Sarasota are equipped to do this properly.
How it works
1. Records and diagnosis. Photographs, digital X-rays, [3D imaging], bite records, and an examination of your joints and muscles. We’re finding out why things broke, not just what broke.
2. The plan. We design the finished result first — on models or digitally — so you can see where we’re going before we begin. You’ll get a written, phased plan with costs.
3. Foundation work. Gum treatment, extractions, implants, or root canals where needed.
4. Temporaries. You wear a prototype of the final result for weeks or months. This is the step that separates a reconstruction that lasts from one that fails. If something isn’t comfortable, we adjust the plastic, not the porcelain.
5. Final restorations. Crowns, bridges, veneers, or implant restorations placed once the design is proven.
6. Protection. Almost every reconstruction ends with a custom night guard. If grinding broke your teeth the first time, it will break the new ones too.
Frequently asked questions
Is it painful? The work is done under local anesthesia and [oral sedation is available]. Most patients describe the appointments as long rather than painful.
Will I have gaps in my smile during treatment? No. You’re in temporaries that look like teeth from the first phase onward.
Can it be done faster? Some cases can be compressed, but the temporary phase exists for a reason. Rushing it is the most common cause of reconstructions that fail within a few years.
How long will the result last? Well-planned reconstructions routinely last 15–20 years and longer, provided you wear the night guard and keep up with maintenance visits.
